James Ramanauskas passed away peacefully October 14, 2022 with his caring family by his side, at the age of 64. Jim, as he was affectionately known by many, was born on April 20, 1958 in Norwalk, CT. Jim and his family resided in Stratford for 40 years. He was the son to the late John Ramanauskas and Arline (McCarthy) Ramanauskas.
The Marines were embedded in Jim early on, he graduated Norwalk High a year early to pursue his dream. Jim served four and a half years, three of which were recon.
He spent 40+ years working in the shipping industry, and has had numerous part time jobs, including UPS, for the last 16 years.
Jim met his loving wife Cheryl in June 1980, and married July 1981. They later had two children, James Jr. and Jessica. Jim was a wonderful father, a tremendous provider, and a one-of-a-kind soul. His favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. Jim and his brother-in-law, Ron, had a following, eager to see what extravagant props would be at their haunted houses over the last 14 years. Jim was a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun club, and a member of The Marine Corps League - Housatonic Charter.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl, of 41 years, and his daughter, Jessie. He leaves behind his sibling's Elaine Palmenta, John (Fran) Ramanauskas, Diane Toth, Laura (Milt) Smith. In-laws Carol Kascak, Ronald Jr (Karen) Hetten, Christina (Chris) Upton as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim has now reunited with his parents and his son. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Friends may greet his family on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615. Full military honors will take place that evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
