James William Galanek, age 74, of Shelton passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his home.  Born in Bridgeport on December 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Wencelaus and Alice Bassett Galanek.  Jim was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Army.  He was a toolmaker for Bic, Inc for many years until his retirement.  Jim enjoyed antique cars and attending car shows and had a great love for animals. He mostly enjoyed being Papa to his grandson Noah, which he spent countless hours with.  He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Michelle Galanek and grandson Noah Galanek Vizcaino of Shelton.  He is also survived by his brothers, David Galanek of Shelton and Chuck ( Mary ) Galanek of Stratford, his sister in law, Judy Galanek and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers; Al Galanek and Vinny Galanek.  Friends may greet the family on Wednesday August 10, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. Funeral services with full military honors will take place at 7:00 p.m. following the visiting hours.
