James Fleming, age 95 of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Christine Sutton Fleming. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on February 12, 1921 he was a son of the late Thomas and Geraldine Curran Fleming. James had worked as a machinist for 28 years at Warner Packaging Co. in Bridgeport before his retirement. He enjoyed reading, watching golf and was an avid Mets and Jets fan. James was a member of the Gaelic American Club and loved singing Irish rebel songs and spent many hours telling stories about his family and life in Ireland. He was a dedicated and loving father to Geraldine Crolla of Milford, Patricia Taylor and her husband Brian of Bloomfield and Richard Fleming who predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by his sister Selina (Lallie) Fleming of Monroe and daughter in-law Pat Fleming of Hamden. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Amber (Seth) Delpha, Aimee (Michael) Wong, Amanda Crolla, Keith (Maren) Fleming, Christine (John) Fredyna, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife Christine and his son Richard he was predeceased by his siblings; Thomas and Richard Fleming, Rita Carolan, Geraldine Devlin, Nancy Connolly and Marie Fleming. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 9:00 am at St. James Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be held privately in Union Cemetery.
