Irene Rosza Chirico, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on March 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Ethel Rosza. Irene worked for Casco Products, Aerosol Techniques and retired from Warner Packing in 1990. Irene loved working in her yard, planting flowers and taking care of her garden. She enjoyed walks with her dogs, going to Saturday morning tag sales, playing bingo, going up to see the Indians and going to fairs and festivals. She loved her Sunday afternoon visits to Captain Cove where she enjoyed listening to the music and a few glasses of wine. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Wiltsie of Bridgeport, sons, David Chirico and his companion Leisa Gazdik of Stratford and Thomas Chirico and his wife Patty of West Haven, her loving grandchildren, Joe, Debbie, Lynn Marie, Sarah, Matthew, Thomas, Adam and Allie, great granddaughters, Heather and Shelley and a great great granddaughter, Serenity and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of forty two years, Gaetano (Tom) and her son Gary, brothers, Bill Bernath, Alex and John Rozsa. Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford with Father Joseph Palacino, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home and also on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to services at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donation in her memory can be made to Ct.
