Harold Joseph Baird, age 73, beloved husband of Martha Watt Baird died December 22, 2020. In addition to his wife, he leaves several cousins.

Hal, as he was known, worked at SNET for twenty-six years. His hobbies included sports, music, and announcing.

He sang with the Stratford United Methodist choir, the Oratorio choir of the First Congregational Church Stratford, and the Stratford Sister Cities chorus.

He was in radio for almost twenty-one years, holding announcing positions at WNAB Bridgeport, WICC Bridgeport, WPSB Bridgeport, WADS Ansonia, WSCR Hamden, and WNLK Norwalk.

He also served as public address announcer for the New Haven Nighthawks ice hockey team, the New Haven Knights ice hockey team, the Connecticut Coasters roller hockey team, the Stratford Brakettes softball team, and the Connecticut Classics softball team.

He was an officer on the Sterling House Community Center council and was music chairman of the Stratford United Methodist Church.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stratford United Methodist Church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be limited capacity for the funeral service. Please contact the church office (203-375-5851) by Thursday, December 24th at 1 pm if you plan to attend.
