Frederick Zorn, 95, of Stratford, completed his earthly journey on February 18, 2018. Fred was a life-long member of the First Congregational Church of Stratford, where he served on nearly every board and committee at one time or another. Fred was a member of the Ecclesiastical Society, served on the Sterling House Council for 25 years, and was a volunteer with the Friends of Boothe Park.
Fred graduated from Stratford High, and flew transports with the Army Air Force during WWII. He worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company for over 30 years, retiring as a Foreman in Repair and Installation.
Fred was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Louise, and by his three brothers: Robert, Edward and Richard. Fred is survived by his three children; Thomas Zorn of NY, Melissa Zorn of Stratford, and Jane Gordon of VT; by six grandchildren Frederick, Katie, Maximillian, Jonathan, Evan, and Alyssa; and by two great-grandchildren Enrique and Isidro. He is also survived by his devoted friend and caregiver, Jackie.
Fred truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was loved and respected by all.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 2301 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred's memory to the Friends of Boothe Park or to the First Congregational Church of Stratford, designated for Silver Lake camp scholarships.
