Frederick Thomas Cosgrove, age 84 of Stratford passed away Friday June 12, 2026 at his home.  Born in Bridgeport on February 18, 1942 he was a son of the late Henry and Miriam Geiste Cosgrove.

Fred was a grocer most of his career working for Grand Union and Whole Foods until his retirement.  While raising his children, he enjoyed coaching; Pop Warner Football, Recreation Basketball and Little League Baseball.

He is survived by his loving children; Laura Cosgrove and her partner Dave Weiler of Stratford, Eric Cosgrove and his wife Denise of Stratford, Marc Cosgrove and his wife Gina of Northford and Colleen Cody and her husband Brian of Stratford. His brother, David Cosgrove and his wife Kathy, and sister, Janet Chaffee. Eight grandchildren; Jesse, Eric, Melissa and her husband Marcus, Elizabeth and her husband Mike, Matthew, Jason, Cameron and Bowie. Four great grandchildren; Nadia, Scarlett, Emma and Daniel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his former wife Louise Fry Cosgrove. He was predeceased by his sisters; Linda Meola and Barbara Terry, his niece Melissa Fry Yerrington and his great granddaughter Piper.

Hours of visitation will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Dennis & Darcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.  He will be laid to rest in St. Michael Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Vicki Soto Memorial Fund or The Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
