Freda Fontaine-Metellus of Stratford, CT was a caring and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and friend. To those dearest she was known as Fifi, Mom and Nanna. She left this world suddenly on November 21st 2020 at age 56 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
She was born to her late Father Camil Fontaine and late mother Saintadie Luc on September 8th 1964 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as an only child.
Freda was raised in Brooklyn, New York by her maternal aunts Adeline Theophile and Maude Seiz. She grew up alongside her cousins who were more like sisters Ruby and Janet as well as her cousins Julie, Daphnee,Helen and Gaby. She graduated from New Utrecht highschool class of '84.
She was passionate about her work as a Licenced Practical Nurse at a Long-term care facility as well as a mental health support worker at St. Vincent Behavioral Health.
Freda is survived by many loved ones, including her husband Patrick Metellus, their sons Eric and Frederick. Her sisters-in-law Synthia and Magdala, brother-in- law Jean as well as mother-in-law Madeleine. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Adrien, Ethan and Aerie who are near and dear to her heart along with her very best friend Immacula.
Freda your compassion, bravery, spunk and laugh out loud abrupt sense of humor will be missed. You live forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
There will be a walk through on Friday December 4th from 5 to 7pm at the Dennis & Darcy-Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home located at 2611 Main Street, Stratford. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 8:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Church 1950 Barnum Ave Stratford, CT. Please follow current pandemic safety protocols by wearing a mask and social distancing. Be strong, stay safe and God bless you always.
