Evonne Nylander, age 66, of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Freetown, Sierra Leon, West Africa, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Charlotte George Nylander. Evonne worked as a CNA at Family Care in Stratford. She enjoyed travel, baking and cooking but her greatest joy was her family. Survivors include 2 sons, Olabode Nylander of West Africa, Lyndon Saunders of Bridgeport, 1 daughter, Lovelace Abdullah and husband Shaheed of San Diego, CA, a brother, Emile Nylander of Freetown, Sierra Leon, West Africa, 2 sisters, Emilda Nylander Smith of Stratford and Alma Oju Alton-Pratt of Australia, 4 grandchildren, Sam, Jabril, Evonne and Jeremiah. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. Funeral services will take place on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Stratford United Methodist Church with Rev. Simeon Law, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
