Ellouise M. (Hidu) McDonald died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 18th at the age of 95.

Ellouise was born on March 3, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Willard and Lillian McDowell.  She graduated from Harding High School and Housatonic Community College in 1999.  Ellie worked for the State of Connecticut in the Comptroller's Office until her retirement in 1993.  She enjoyed quilting, crafting, shopping and hosting Christmas parties and holiday parties with her grandchildren.

Ellouise is survived by her children Sharon Gilleran (Bill) of Redding, Jan Coubrough of Milford, Timothy Hidu (Dale) of Stratford, Lisa Uvino of West Haven, Robert McDonald of Norwalk and Wendy McDonald of Stratford.  Ellouise is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings, Carol Lockshier, Joanne Perkins, Donald McDowell and Michael (Gabrielle) McDowell.

Ellouise was preceded in death by her brothers Willard Jr, James, Richard and Edward.  She is also predeceased by her children David Hidu, Susan LeBlond, Richard Hidu, Willard (Billy) McDonald and her grandson Adam Hidu.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615.
