Obituary

A. Elizabeth Hanson, widow of Arthur C. Hanson, was buried May 9, 2015 in Park Cemetery with a graveside ceremony attended by her family. The daughter of Nina Gilbert Rohrbach Ide and Charles Rohrback, she was born in Washington, DC. February 14, 1921. She lived in Bridgeport, Stratford and Shelton for most of her life, before moving to Maine last year. She died February 8, 2015 in Ellsworth, ME. She was a Girl Scout leader at McKinley School in Bridgeport for many years during the 1950s and was very active at the former Newfield Methodist Church in Bridgeport, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a graduate of Harding High School in Bridgeport and later attended secretarial school. She worked as an executive secretary at the former Bassick Co. in Bridgeport and at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Elizabeth and Art enjoyed traveling around the country and overseas, visiting their children, and vacations in the Bahamas and playing cards with friends. She is survived by a son, James A. Hanson and his wife, Margaret Hanson of Virginia; three daughters: Elizabeth Thompson of California; Linda Wohlking Duggan and her husband, Edwin T. Duggan, of Florida, and Eleanor Hanson of New York. Also, she is survived by grandchildren: James Pinto and his wife, Tammy Weckwerth; Bart Pinto and his wife, Jennifer Pinto; and Nyree Pinto Cweklinski and her husband Frank Cweklinski; Cairbre Fanslow and his wife, Jennier Fanslow; Kristina Lowell and her husband, Gregory Lowell; Matthew Hanson; Anne Welles Auer, and her husband, Daniel Auer, and Jeff Gall, and his wife Chocoma Darocha. She also is survived by nine great grandchildren. Jordan Fernald Funeral Home of Ellsworth, ME and Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home of Stratford were in charge of local arrangements.
