Elinor Louise Lucas Ziegler, beautiful and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Walter R. Ziegler.

Elinor was born on September 11, 1924 in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Harold A. Lucas and Mathilda Pyrtey. She was a member of the Summerfield United Methodist Church since 1952. Elinor enjoyed boating, motor homing and camping with her husband, bowling, and most importantly spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Richard W. Ziegler of Oxford, her daughter Judith Z. King of Derby, her sister Clair Loomis of Middletown, her four grandchildren Amanda Mitchell, Craig, Erik and Marisa Smith, two great grandchildren Nathan Smith and Madeline Mitchell, along with several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years Walter R. Ziegler, her brother Harold Lucas Jr., and two sisters Marie Kenyon and Lillian Arndt.

Friends may visit with her family on Tuesday August 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. In koo Chung officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Cemetery in Huntington.
