Obituary

Eleanor Louise Adams, lovingly known to all as Ellie, 98, passed away on October 31st at her home in Shelton with her family by her side. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of Thomas Tamblyn Symons and Ellen Marie Frantz. She attended Coughlin High School and shortly after graduation moved to New York City to work on The Manhattan District Project as a typist.

Shortly after the war she married her high school sweetheart, the late George W. Adams Jr. They were married for 67 years.

Ellie worked with her husband's medical supply business well into her 70's. They were very involved with the Nichols United Methodist Church, the Pyramid Temple Shriners and the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield.

Ellie was best known for her kindness, sharp wit, humor and always opening her home to all. Also, her baking. One of her greatest joys was making Christmas cookies with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a tradition that started 60 years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Adams Jr., her sons, Lewis Alan Adams and George W. Adams III, and her great-granddaughter Nora Kimberly Nelly. She is survived by her sons Tom Adams (Susan) and Bill Adams (Darrilyn), her daughter Grace Weitzer (Steve), and daughter-in-law Sandy Adams (George III). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth Dorney (Jim), Kristin Zuckerman (Randy), Kimberly Nelly (Joe), Tom Adams (Basia), Daniel Adams (Christina), Alan Weitzer (Iliza), Joseph Weitzer (Tiffany), Robert Weitzer, Billy Adams and Matt Adams.
