Dorothy L. Monks, age 88, of Bridgeport, died peacefully entering into God's hands on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her family at her side. She was the daughter of the late George C. and Theresa Gleason Prutting.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 7, 1929, she resided in Bridgeport for 88 years. She was a homemaker and attended Barnum School and Harding High School. She was a devoted wife of sixty years to her beloved husband James B. Monks.
She leaves behind her three loving sons and their wives, James M. and Elisette Monks of Stratford, Timothy and Rosa Monks of Shelton and Kevin and Laura Monks of Bridgeport, seven beautiful grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three in-laws Ronald, Phyllis and Beatrice and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond, Donald, Floyd and sister Lilian.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral meeting directly at St. James Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615.
