David Warren
Marchbank
d. Aug 2, 2025
David Warren Marchbank (Carrano), beloved husband of Cynthia (Fullajtar) Carrano, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on January 28, 1954, to the late Philip Carrano and Lillian Warren, Dave lived a life as vibrant as the music he created. Known by many as Dave Carrano, he later changed his name to Marchbank, but his unmistakable presence and passion for life never changed.
A lifelong musician, Dave was a gifted guitarist, pianist, singer, and songwriter. In the 1970s and 1980s, he toured the East Coast with Apple, a celebrated Beatles tribute band, and performed with several other bands and touring acts throughout his career. In the 1980s, he built his own home studio and went on to record nearly 100 original songs with his longtime writing partners and fellow musicians. Music was not just a talent for Dave—it was his heartbeat. Friends and family fondly recall how a simple conversation might spark a lyric idea, leading Dave to jot it down on a scrap of paper and add it to the box where he kept his future songs.
Later in life, Dave brought his talent and magnetic presence to the stage as an actor in local theater productions. His tireless work ethic and natural charisma shone through in every role, further cementing his reputation as a true artist.
Dave's presence was always felt. Whether around a campfire or at a family gathering, he loved to command attention with a story, a joke, or a song. He was a performer in the truest sense, finding joy in the laughter and connection his presence brought to others.
In the past 20 years, Dave faced serious health challenges that disrupted his musical work and brought some darker times. At moments, this caused him to withdraw from the family and friends he loved so deeply. Yet he always remained hopeful for brighter days, dreaming of family camping trips, rebuilding his music studio, and returning to the creativity and togetherness that meant the most to him.
Dave also had a lifelong love for animals, especially his cats. He was known to hand-feed squirrels and raccoons in his yard and always looked after any stray cat in need.
Above all, Dave loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his two sons, David Warren Carrano Jr. and Joseph Anthony Carrano; and his siblings, Jeanne Carrano Miller (and her late husband Richard Miller), his twin brother Dennis Carrano (Diane Wade Carrano), and Debbie Carrano Fernandez (Thomas Fernandez), and Paul Carrano. He was predeceased by his brother, Philip Carrano Jr. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, who will hear stories of their grandfather and his music for years to come, along with his many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford, CT. A Celebration of David's life will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
