David Wenceslaus Galanek, age 81,  of Shelton, passed away on August 7, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital.  Born in Bridgeport he was the beloved son of  Wenceslaus and Alice Bassett Galanek and was a life long area resident.  David was a proud  member of  the US Army serving in Vietnam and loved music, his record collection and playing the piano.

Survivors include his brother Charles and wife Mary Galanek of Stratford, his nieces and nephews, Michelle Galanek and her son, Noah, Barbara Kallay and her husband Robert and their daughter, Heather and  Charles, Thomas and Denise Galanek.  He  was predeceased in addition to his parents by his brothers, Alexander, Vincent and James Galanek.

David's integrity, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. His contributions to both his family and his country will echo long after his departure from this world. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel  Church,  305 Pulaski St. Bridgeport. Burial  will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford  with full Military  Honors.
