David Backiel Conway, age 79, passed away at his home in Seymour on Monday, October 23, 2017. He was the loving husband of Dolores Silva Conway for 50 years.
David was born on September 8, 1938 in Bridgeport to John Skinner Conway and Aloiza Backiel Conway. From serving in the Navy as a young man to retiring as an airline captain from USAir, David always had an adventurous spirit. He also enjoyed hiking, camping, motorcycle riding and skydiving.
After retirement, David went on to serve as Chairman of the Board for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bridgeport, completing many builds with former president Jimmy Carter. He also served his community by becoming both a Mason and a Shriner.
In addition to his wife, Dolores, he is survived by his three daughters, Danni Lee Conway, Donna Lynn Conway, Deb Conway Moylan, and his son-in-law Tom Moylan. His faithful dog Dolly was always by his side.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dennis and D'Arcy Funeral Home located at 2611 Main Street in Stratford.
The family would like to thank Connecticut Hospice of Shelton. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
