CHARLES WILLIAM DALY, age 93, the beloved husband of the late Viola Della Donna Daly passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Mae Daly and was a resident of Bridgeport for the past 86 years.
Charles was a devout Catholic and a long time parishioner of St. Raphael and St. Margaret Shrine in Bridgeport. He and his wife of 65 years generously supported their church. They volunteered in many ways, including assisting the Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood. Charles loved being outside in the sunshine. He would walk miles around the neighborhood and enjoyed attending parades especially on St. Patrick's Day. Above all, Charles loved spending time with his family. His kind and caring heart touched many lives and he will be dearly missed.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was involved in many community activities during his earlier years and supported the Veterans Employee Association acting as their Treasurer. He worked as an accountant's assistance at the Bryant Electric company in Bridgeport for 35 years.
Survivors include several precious nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Hubay.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret's Shrine in Bridgeport. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private in St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Margaret's Shrine, 2539 Park Ave., Bridgeport, 06604.
Charles' niece and nephew, Diane and Bill Wirth and the family, would like to thank the entire staff at Lord Chamberlain, especially the staff on the third floor, for their extrodonary and loving care of "Uncle Charlie".
