Blanche Franklin Kent , widow of Peter Kent of Stratford, daughter of the late Olive Young Franklin and Reginald Charles Franklin died at home with family on Sunday January 4th, 2015. She was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, Russell Sage College and Southern Connecticut State College. She received a Bachelor of Science, Business from Russell Sage College and advance degrees including a Masters of Science and 6th Year Professional Diploma of Advanced Studies in School Psychology from Southern Connecticut State College. She was employed for more than 30 years with the New Haven School District as a teacher and then School Psychologist. In her role she helped countless students over the years with both personal and learning issues. In retirement she was an active member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association. For the last 52 years she was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Stratford. A serious golfer, she was formerly a member of Bronson and Grassy Hills Country Club. For the last 20 years was a dedicated and energetic member of Oronoque Country Club where she spent much of her time, golfing, lunching, showing off pictures of her granddaughters and laughing with friends. She was a force to be reckoned with, an incredible mother, loyal friend, fearless world traveler, an avid reader, massive support of women's education and above all she had a very generous and caring heart. Survived by daughter Lauren S. Kent and her husband Gregory Rellis of Zurich Switzerland and two granddaughters Julia and Olivia, her son Scott P. Kent, San Diego, CA and her niece Joan F. Schmidt and her husband Walter, and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Irving, Donald, Robert and Oliver Franklin. Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday January 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 Main St. Stratford with Rev. Scott Lee, Rector officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.
