Obituary

Betty Galanek, age 65, passed away at her home in Stratford on January 6, 2018. Betty was born in Bridgeport on September 22, 1952, the daughter of the late George Salamone and Jennie Baird.

Betty grew up in Bridgeport and Fairfield and later moved to Stratford where she was a long-time resident. In her younger days, Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including playing poker games with her dear girlfriends. She was an animal lover, particularly of cats. While saddened by the recent loss of her cat, Timmy, she found great joy when she adopted her new best friend, Georgie, last year.

Betty's true love was her family. She loved spending time with her only child, Michelle, and her grandson, Noah. They were the light of her life. As she often told and wrote to Noah, she "loved him more than the sky." She was also blessed to have Michelle's father, James Galanek, in her life, and their love and friendship was very special.

Betty is predeceased by her brother, George Salamone and her sister, Jeannie Salamone. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Galanek and her grandson, Noah. Also by her sisters, Grace Kelemen and her husband, Robert; Mary Bango and her husband, Richard; Johanna Plaitis and her partner, Craig; Rose Salamone; and by her one brother, Samuel Salamone. Also by many nieces and nephews.
