Betty
Dobensky
d. May 11, 2023
Betty Dobensky, age 93, of Stratford passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 13, 1929 in Milford, CT to the late William and Janet Nicol and had been a lifelong Stratford resident, including the past 70 years in Lordship. She was a graduate of Stratford High School Class of 1947 and worked at Avco-Lycoming, Allied Color, and Sikorsky Aircraft.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late William Dobensky for over 40 years until his passing in 1991. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ellen (Costello) Dobensky of Shelton; 3 cherished grandchildren, Megan, Catherine, and Billy Dobensky; nieces Sandy Dobratz and Donna Leonowich; nephews Dan and Jeff Nicol. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Allan and Willie Nicol and niece Jackie Bleck.
Betty loved the water views from her home, reading her books, spending time with her family, and socializing with her countless friends throughout her life. She was a long-time member of the Housatonic Boat Club and Lordship Community Church. Her grandchildren were the world to her and made her so proud.
Everyone who knew Betty knew her as a strong, determined, and independent woman who was always grateful for everything. She had a strong will to live and continued to live on her own until recently. Betty was fashionable and never missed a chance to get decked out. She had a vibrant spirit and loved attending and throwing parties. She always took a genuine and sincere interest in everyone and she was loved by all. Her sharp mind amazed everyone even up until her final breaths.
Thank you to all who have been so kind, generous, and supportive to Betty and her family, including her Costello in-laws, her recent caregiver Julia, and her many dear friends and neighbors in Lordship and throughout the entire area.
