Betsy Grace Reed Blomfield, age 76, of Westport, passed peacefully at her home on Monday, November 13, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Ivory French and Bethany French (Guyette). Betsy was born in Waterbury, CT on October 26, 1941, growing up in Waterbury and in Rutland, VT. She was an accomplished theologian, having graduated from Bethany College in West Virginia with high honors, and from Yale Divinity with a Doctorate in Divinity. Betsy lived in Bridgeport, CT for 35 years, serving as Youth Minister at Olivet Congregational Church in Bridgeport and Lordship Congregational Church in Stratford. She was Director of the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport's Urban Ministry Project/Project Learn for many years, and later served as Pastor of the United Church of Christ, Bridgeport CT. She retired in 2008 and moved to Westport, CT.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Bruce, her sons; Lyman Dale Reed and his wife, Tracy, and her son Brandon Duer, of Salem, MA, and Adam Reed of Bridgeport; her stepson Matthew Braunstein and his wife Melissa, and their children Madison, Mackenzie, and Morgan of Canterbury, CT. She was predeceased by her first husband, Reverend Lyman Reed.

Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Green's Farms Church, 71 Hillandale Rd., Westport. Rev. Jeffrey Rider will officiate. An hour of visitation will take place on Sunday, Novemeber 19, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
