Barbara Rita Vazsonyi, age 83 of Fairfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Carlton Chronic & Convalescent Home. Born in Bridgeport on September 15, 1941 she was the daughter of the late Stephen A. Csehak and Frances A. Chacho Csehak.

Barbara grew up in Stratford before making Fairfield her home for over 50 years. She worked a variety of jobs before landing at Super Discount Wines & Spirits and then Fairfield Wines & Spirits where she retired from. At the two stores, she met students working their way through college and always had a story to tell about them. Every night between 7:00-8:00pm, she could always be found watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She loved being surrounded by family. She took great pride in her family.

She is survived by her loving daughters; Julie (Chris) Delmonico of Fairfield and Vivian (Paul) Vasilescu of Shelton, 5 grandchildren: Jordan Chernes, Paige Heredia, Shayne Power, Tyler Vasilescu and Troy Vasilescu, 5 great-grandchildren; Carter, Presley, Shea, Colin and Kase.  She is also survived by her brother, Stephen (Peg) Csehak, her nieces; Shirley Csehak and Ellen Cartalano and several cousins.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, James Csehak and her former husband, Josef Vazsonyi. She spent the last months of her life at Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Home due to a fall. We are so thankful to the staff there for making her time there comfortable. Thank you to Margaret, Taylor, Prudence, Kerry, Chereese, Geta and all the nurses and aides she came in contact with.
