Barbara Grey Hagan, age 85, of Stratford passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of William Hagan.
Barbara was born in Bridgeport on September 27, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Margaret Enga and the granddaughter of the late William and Jessie Smith who helped to raise her. She grew up living in Chester, England and then moved to Stratford, CT. She was a graduate of Stratford High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Hawie Manufacturing Co. in Bridgeport. In her younger years she was Vice President of the National Parents without Partners. Barbara loved traveling, especially trips to England to visit family. She also enjoyed doing all kinds of puzzles, playing Scrabble, going to lunch, and playing cards with friends. Barbara loved spending time on her porch reading and gardening in her yard. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Barbara was a member of the Stratford United Methodist Church where she loved volunteering at the thrift shop and doing the mailing with friends.
She is survived by her son Paul W. Grey Sr. and his wife Gena of Stratford, her grandchildren Paul W. Grey Jr. and his wife Marcie of Stratford, Brooke Barbee and her husband Jon of Stratford, Payder Nelson of New Haven and her great grandchildren Alissa Grey and her mother Courtney Brown, Adrianna Barbee, Nathan Barbee, and Jordyn Barbee. She also leaves Susan Grey and good friend June Evitts. Barbara was predeceased by her first husband Paul T. Grey and her son William J. Grey
A Funeral Service will take place for Barbara on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford.
