Obituary

Anthony Robert Garrick, age 86, of Derby, CT, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2021 with his family by his side.

Anthony was born in Bridgeport, on October 1, 1934, to the late Anthony and Margaret (DellaDonna) Garrick.  He graduated from Bassick High School in 1954.  Anthony served in the Army from 1957 to 1959, then married his sweetheart, Marie Madeline Civitelli, on June 13, 1959.  Together, they had 2 children, Robert and Susan.  He made his career with Southern CT Gas Company, retiring as a supervisor at the age of 60 and moving to Florida for several years before coming back to CT in 2008.

Anthony resided in Derby with his daughter and her wife, Susan and Debra Garrick, where he enjoyed watching old war movies, building model planes, putzing in his workshop, and making Sunday sauce.  He also enjoyed spending time with his Golden Retriever, Harley. One of his favorite past times was playing cards with friends or family, usually Uno and Poker. He claimed to be an excellent player because he won more than not, but some of us suspect there was some obvious cheating going on. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and taking weekend fishing trips with his good friends.

In 2017, Anthony lost his beloved wife of 58 years, whom he affectionately referred to as "Miss Charm".  Besides his daughters, Susan and Debra, he is survived by his son Robert of Florida, his brother and wife Daniel and Lori Garrick of Texas, his former daughter-in-law and her husband, Patricia and Thomas Putnam, 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many very close friends.

A Celebration of Anthony's life will take place on Saturday, August 7 th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 1:45 at Dennis & D'Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St, Stratford, CT.
