Obituary

Agnes L. Spence Snelgrove, age 90 of Stratford passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Leonard Snelgrove.

Born in Bridgeport on September 20, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Allen and Mary Sims Spence. Agnes graduated from Harding High School. She worked at Manning, Maxwell and Moore and Connecticut National Bank until her retirement. She loved to dance and passed that love onto her granddaughter Karenna. Agnes' greatest joy was her family. She was their biggest fan, whether it was watching Michael play baseball, Bryan play his violin, Nicholas star in a school play or Karenna dance. She was a member of the Sikorsky Friendship Club and enjoyed spending time with all the friends she made there. Agnes lived her life "one day at a time."

Agnes is survived by her two daughters, Lori Dana and her husband James of Milford, Bonnie Waring and her husband Gene of Seymour, a sister-in-law Marjorie Spence of Florida, four grandchildren,--Michael, Bryan, Nicholas and Karenna--and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother James Spence and sister Marion Pavlecka.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers that became part of her family; Joan, Dulce, Bucci, Linda, Dione and Dana, all of the wonderful nurses from Constellation Health Services, and Brenda and Amy from the Center of Geriatics in Stratford. It was because of these special people that the family was able to fulfill their promise to keep Agnes in her home.

A Memorial Service will be held for Agnes on Wednesday, November 21 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy-Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615. Friends may greet the family during those hours. Entombment will be held privately.
