On June 14, 2012, Cameron Elise Van Sant, age 26, passed away at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, CT, after a battle fought against cancer with incredible strength and grace. She was the precious daughter of Anthony Stawicki and Stacey Van Sant, cherished stepdaughter of Gina Stawicki and Robert Crespo, beloved big sister to Kelly and Richard Donnelly III, Brandi, Tami and Anthony Stawicki Jr., and beloved granddaughter of Mary Lou Stawicki. She is survived by her pride and joy—her son Tristan Frederick Sweitzer-Howe—and his father Josh Greenberg, her best friend, Kieran Sobel, who stood by her side with her discovered family Bernadette, Leigh, Brian and Evan Sobel, Sonja Devitt and Mary and Vincent Hardy, the James family and her special niece Madison Olivia Donnelly along with her many uncles, aunts and cousins. Cameron graduated from Bunnell High School and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she was a brother of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity. She was gifted at playing the piano, guitar and she loved to sing. She had a passion for cats and leaves behind her Russian Blue, Rocky, whom she adored. Cameron was a very caring person who radiated positive energy. She will be dearly missed by all who were lucky to have known and loved her. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Alan and Edna Van Sant and Leo John Stawicki. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital and to the Bridgeport Hospital Emergency Department for their amazing love and support. Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. At Cameron’s request her casket will be open from 4 to 6 pm for those who desire to view her, then will be closed from 6 pm until the end of services. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at a later date and will be announced on the funeral home website.
